Ph. D Program
A special Ph. D program in theoretical & computational chemistry is designed for the Institute. The prospective students should have excellent qualifications in one of the following fields: chemistry, physics, biology, material science, or other physical sciences as well as engineering in order to be accepted into the program. The successful candidates will spend about five years to pursue a Ph. D degree in theoretical and computational chemistry that may span across a broad field in physical science. Under this special program, students are required to take some specially designed courses in computer programming and will receive special training in programming by involving themselves in the actual development of scientific software for academic and/or commercial use.
An important and unique feature of our graduate program is that the Institute has a number of overseas adjunct professors who are internationally recognized leading experts in their respective research fields. Graduate students will have opportunities to work directly under the supervision of overseas adjunct professors for their degrees. Students who excel academically will be encouraged to spend some period in collaborative research groups overseas as part of their Ph. D education. The Institute currently has overseas adjunct professors from New York University, National University of Singapore and Hong Kong University of Scientific and Technology. Recruitment of more overseas professors is in progress.
The ITCC offers highly attractive financial support to graduate students who enroll in the Ph. D program. Currently, a Ph. D candidate receives a basic annual stipend of more than 10,000 RMB and an additional annual bonus based on the candidate's academic performance. Prospective Ph. D candidates are encouraged to apply to our Ph. D program.
